Here at 210 Design House, we spend our days talking about all things cabinetry, countertops, closets, and more… but our greatest passion — the true core of why we do what we do — is all about collaboration and creativity. Over the past 30+ years, we’ve built relationships with the most talented designers, brand partners, craftspeople, artisans, and architects in the industry — and these relationships are a big part of what makes 210 Design House a success.
“Collaboration lies at the heart of our business,” says 210 Design House President Rama Dandamudi. “We work closely with designers and other members of the industry to bring design dreams to life. It’s an honor to blend our offerings with the talents of our peers and partners.”
Meet Colleen Kinder, Founder of Platinum Coast Designs
One such partner is designer Colleen Kinder, who founded Platinum Coast Designs in 2005. Ever since she worked with the Dandamudi family to open the first showroom back in the ’90s, Kinder has been a vital member of the extended 210 family, bringing her own interior design project work to us in 2010.
“210 Design House’s continued passion for the industry (and unleveled quality of both product and design) keeps me coming back to collaborate,” Kinder says. “A wonderful, supportive group that always made me feel I was a part of something exciting, they encouraged me to be creative and think outside of the box.”
We sat down with Kinder to talk about her experiences with 210 and the spaces they’ve designed together.
Getting Creative Together
“The very first project I did with 210 Design House earned a featured segment on NBC’s ‘Open House,’” Kinder says, “and I cannot tell you how many people reached out to ask where the kitchen cabinets came from. The Snaidero cabinets, stone, and appliances all came from the Dandamudi team — and the kitchen stole the show. The dramatic and unique aesthetic the team helped me deliver in such a small space became a ready-for-prime-time design.”
210 Design House is no stranger to show stopping design — but not all city kitchens can accommodate these desires.

“It can be a challenge to get creative in small city kitchens,” Kinder says. “I had a client seeking a showstopper kitchen in a high-rise condominium. Due to the layout, the kitchen would be the first thing seen, and she needed it to be a ‘moment.’”
“However, the client’s requested jewel box required form as well as function, incorporating all conceivable storage due to the small footprint,” she continues. “In addition, we had a lot of issues with sprinkler heads, pipes, and ductwork that could not be relocated. The 210 Design House designer worked with me and helped craft the perfect kitchen experience, where every detail and nuance was addressed with thoughtfulness and patience. It truly exceeded the client’s expectations … and even my own.”

The Multidimensional Approach
Even when a project doesn’t require specific logistical solutions, finding the perfect aesthetic can be a challenge. However, at 210 Design House, we delight in accommodating multiple styles and any and all client desires.

“I have used Snaidero and Plain & Fancy in past projects,” says Colleen. “Each product in their portfolio is unique to multiple design aesthetics, allowing me to utilize 210 Design House for both a contemporary client as well as a more traditional/transitional client. There is literally a style for every situation, and the well-versed designers I work with at 210 can pivot between the lines seamlessly, while providing great service across the board.”

The Secret Weapon
210’s product offering is impressive — but it pales in comparison to the magic of the 210 team. “210 Design House continues to seek out not only the best products in the industry, but also the most talented designers,” Kinder says.
“They encourage collaboration with the entire team, a distinction that separates them from the rest,” she continues. “Both your opinion and that of the client are equally as important to the final design as their input and expertise. My clients are always beyond happy with both the outcome and the process.”
This practiced process and these stories results aren’t simply one-time occurrences. “The team at 210 Design House is a group of consummate professionals,” Kinder says. “They are intentional and thoughtful with every detail throughout the process. I appreciate the huge support they have given the Chicago design community over the years and relish every opportunity to collaborate with them.”
The 210 Design House team is beyond thankful to work with such talented and thoughtful partners and creatives. Stay tuned to hear from more of our collaborators! For more information on 210’s product offerings and services, visit us in our River North showroom.
